2023 NASCAR Preview: Week 12 – Kansas

Great day for a race…but mind the wind!

After the rain-soaked Dover race that was delayed and delayed again, we’ve got beeeautiful weather for today’s event at Kansas!

Here’s what to look for:

-Pole for William Byron, knocked down a pretty sweet qualifying lap. Not great stats with a lot of cars on the track however, a 15.1 average finish over the last ten races and only one Top 5. Are there better things in store for him today?

Bubba Wallace was our winner last Fall (Kurt Busch won the Spring race), strong in Practice and narrowly missed advancing to the final round of Qualifying. He’s got a chip on his shoulder though and looked disappointed after missing the cut. Watch out!

Martin Truex Jr. is coming off a Win last week, and has the best average finish of any active driver in the last ten races. He’s still looking for his first Win though if you can believe that. Truex starts 4th today.

-Over the last ten races, nobody has earned more points in Kansas races than Chase Elliott. He’s got a single victory here with six Top 10s.

Christopher Bell is a bit down the list for career stats at Kansas, but he bagged a pair of Top 5s here in 2022. He also narrowly missed advancing to the final round of Qualifying, but has shown wonderful prowess and maturity this year. Could Bell threaten as the race wanes on? Absolutely.

Coverage of the race starts on FS1 at 3pm, green flag scheduled for 3:13pm.
