2020 NASCAR Preview: Week 11 – Martinsville

Wednesday night, under the lights..at Martinsville?

We’re back to short track action after Bristol two weeks ago, and Atlanta this past Sunday. Kevin Harvick reminded everyone how he can Win a race after hanging in the shadows for a little bit. He didn’t take Stage 1 or 2, but he got to do donuts afterwards. Today we’re off to the close confines of Martinsville. All bottled up on The ‘Clip, where do the emotions go?

Here’s what to look for:

Brad Keselowski won this race last Spring. He’s been on fire early this season, and is probably in for another good run tonight. Keselowski and the #2 team carry a 6.5 average finish.

Martin Truet Jr was all over the Stages last week, and was our winner in the Fall. He’s got a decent average here, too, 7.1. Truex will start 5th.

Denny Hamlin was one of three drivers to hand in a pair of Martinsville Top 5s in 2019, 5th and 4th respectively. It is hard to believe that Hamlin hasn’t won here since Spring of 2015. How can that be?

Ryan Blaney was our other driver (along with Hamlin and Keselowski) to score a pair of Top 5s. He had the reverse order, 4th and 5th. Blaney is also our Polesitter tonight, looking like he’s gonna lead some serious laps early.

Bubba Wallace was one of eleven drivers who logged two Martinsville Top 10s last year. “Eleven,” that sounds like a lot, but a bunch of high quality drivers didn’t do that. Jimmie Johnson didn’t. Chase Elliott didn’t.

Mid-week race at Martinsville, VA. What do we have?:

Just a big ‘ol pile of hot dogs! Can’t go wrong here. Martinsville is known for their hot dogs; I’ve looked hard about trying to get some Jesse Jones brand and I’m pretty sure it is impossible, so we’ll just have a slew of our hometown Zweigle’s. We’ve got some chili, we’ve got some cheese, I spiced mine up with some different hot sauces (Sriracha and Diablo from Taco Bell). And we’ve got some awesome white hots in there, Lisa with a traditional white hot with ketchup, mustard, and relish. Those are NOT a Martinsville thing, they are 100% Rochester, NY, baby.

AJ Styles and Daniel Byron will go head-to-head on Friday Night Smackdown for the vacant Intercontinental Title, and will serve as co-Grand Marshalls tonight. Who delivered it better?
