Kyle Busch got off the schneid last week with his first Win of 2020. That was good for him, but leaves NASCAR’s Playoff situation up in the air. A whole bunch of variables, and only Joey Logano is locked into the Championship 4 Finale at Phoenix. Today is their last day to lock in.
Here’s what to look for:
-Could Kyle Busch do it again? He won last week, and now we come to a track where he has the best average finish over the last ten races. A 5.6 is that number, strong indeed! Eight of those last ten runs were Top 5 or better.
–Martin Truex Jr. is the favorite to win today’s race, and he carries a 6.6 average over the last ten races. His last two races here?: 1.0. He won in the Spring, and he won last Fall. Pretty much needing a Win to lock in, Truex will be up on the wheel today.
–Brad Keselowski is currently riding a streak of three straight Top 3s at Martinsville, including a Win in the Spring of ’19. Keselowski hasn’t locked in yet either, so he’ll be pursuing that today. We’ve got a four pound bag and a lot of guys trying to get in. People are going to be none too pleased today.
–Ryan Blaney is on a three-race streak of his own; a bunch of Top 5s including a 2nd in the Spring. He’s long eliminated from the Playoff race, but that doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t mind winning. Heck, lots of guys have a shot at winning today, but few as good as Blaney.
–Bubba Wallace has been doing better every race here. Back-to-back 34th place finishes to open his career, then a 17th and 13th last year, and an 11th in the Spring. That trend is either going to continue, or he’s not going to log at Top 10 today.
Coverage of the race starts on NBC at 2:00pm, green flag scheduled for 2:11pm.
