Welcome to this week’s breakdown of the Vision High School Sports Beat, your behind the scenes look at the production, from the producer and the shows many contributors.
Week 15 of the season, and we start with the Brockport Girls basketball team. The Blue Devils got off to a great start this year, following a season last year that had a similar beginning. But last season, a lot of close games went the other way (5 losses by a total of 8 points). So far, this year is a different story. A story you can watch right here…
Sometimes on the Sports Beat, we film more material than is needed… and sometimes we film stuff just because… here’s some #BonusFootage of the Brockport Girls basketball team talking music!
Paul Gotham sits down with Dave Yates for the Dunkin Donuts High School Notebook next. Pickin’ Splinters is getting into the video highlight business, so we are glad to bring you some basketball footage in this week’s notebook, and throughout the season. Also, we begin the notebook looking at some Section V soccer standouts who have earned the title of “All-American”.
McArdle’s in Fairport brings you the Section V Spotlight… highlighting some of the accomplishments of student-athletes, teams and coaches in the area. Brighton Nordic Skiing is back in action, and a team to look out for this season. Spencerport’s Erin Coykendall also earned one of the nation’s highest honors, being a finalist for the Wendy’s High School Heisman award.
Our main story of the week, 2-time State Champion on the mat, HFL’s Anthony Noto. We’ve followed Anthony’s career over the last 2 years, as he took top honors in the state, and has – as a Junior – locked in his commitment to attend North Carolina State in 2020. One of the things you notice about Anthony, when you see him practice, is his focus and work ethic really stand out.
And that’s a wrap on week 15! Be sure to check out the full episode– and tune in Every Saturday night on 13 WHAM after the late news, and on Sundays at Noon.

We leave you this week, with an Insider weekly feature – looking back at some of our stories from the past 7 years. From December 6, 2014 – a look at the “DePrez Dynasty” in Hilton. The wrestling family had just graduated brothers Vincent and Anthony DePrez, and now younger brothers Sam and Louie look to continue on the family tradition. Sam continues to win matches at Hilton…
Meanwhile, Louie has joined Vincent and Anthony at the University of Binghamton.
