Knighthawks bring the heat, advance to Eastern Division Finals

First postseason appearance for Rochester since 2015, and it’s a W.

The Rochester Knighthawks are headed to the Eastern Division Finals after topping the New England Black Wolves 15-11 on Friday night in the Blue Cross Arena.  They now take their show on the road, looking to bottle the Georgia Swarm on Saturday, May 12th.

Hawkamania was runnin’ wild at the Blue Cross Arena.

While winds and rain were stormin’ in isolated bursts outside, indoors the action was hot once more.  The Knighthawks opened up a 4-0 can early, and carried a 4-2 lead into the 2nd quarter.  Joe Resetarits (who led the team this contest with six points) threw a big boot and dropped the leg to take an 11-4 advantage into the half.

“This town loves its lacrosse! ” says Knighthawks fan Calin Lawrence.

The Wolves rallied a bit to finish out the 3rd, closing the gap 12-9.  There wouldn’t be enough in the tank this night though; a Brad Gillies empty netter capped it for Rochester and a 15-11 win.  Knighthawks netminder Matt Vinc recorded 49 saves, and doing so passed NLL Hall of Famer Dallas Eliuk for 2nd on the All-Time Playoff Saves list.  (He’s no stranger to winning goalkeeping awards!)
