Sports Beat Insider – Oct. 26, 2019

Go Inside the Sports Beat with Eastridge Field Hockey’s Linda Adams and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer with Section V Athletes!

Welcome to this week’s breakdown of the High School Sports Beat, brought to you by Alfred State College.  Many thanks to Alfred State College for joining the Sports Beat family, and helping to bring weekly coverage of Section V High School Sports to broadcast on 13 WHAM.

Now, here’s your behind the scenes look at the production, from the producer and the shows many contributors.  It’s week 7 of the season!

We start this week with an annual event that brings the community of Rochester together for a good cause.  The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Frontier Field, and just like in years past, Section V was well represented.  It’s a great thing to see, and something everyone should consider being a part of – whether thru participation or sponsorship or contribution.  For more info, visit the Making Strides website.

As sometimes happens, there is more footage than we can fit into each episode… so presented here as a bonus feature, is the interview with the Williamson Marauders Tyrone Walker…

13 WHAM’s Matt Trabold joins us for the Dunkin High School Notebook.  Matt and Dave Yates talk about Marion’s Chloe DeLyser – and “The Saga of the Broken Record that Wasn’t”… plus, in a web-only bonus feature, hear Matt’s comments on the strong season for the Bath-Haverling Rams Boys Soccer squad.

Kyle O’Gara is up next with this week’s Making the Grade nominee… and, as always, if you have a candidate for our Making the Grade segment, send us an email to MTG@RocSportsNow.com or fill-in our contact form.  This week, we honor Jacey Palmgreen from Greece Olympia.

The Section V Spotlight is up next, highlighting some of the accomplishments of Section V athletes, teams and coaches.

Our top story this week takes us to East Irondequoit, where the Lancers were celebrating a milestone – 50 years of coaching for Linda Adams.  The longtime Eastridge Field Hockey coach, and current modified coach, was honored at half-time – and despite the wind and the cold, many former players from throughout Coach Adams’ career were on-hand to honor her “Lasting Legacy”.

We present to you now a “Director’s Cut” of our story…

And that’s a wrap on week 7 of Season 9!  Be sure to check out the full episode– and tune in Every Saturday night on 13 WHAM after the late news, and on Sundays at Noon.

Follow the High School Sports Beat on Twitter, and be sure to check back here each Monday for the latest Insider!

We leave you this week, with an Insider weekly feature – looking back at some of our stories from the past 8 years. From October 15, 2019 – our first look at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, focused on the Webster Swim Team.  Featuring Coach John Doerner, and swimmers Melissa Carroll, Katrine Peterson and Lauren Nicastro.
