–William Byron was quickest on Friday, set to shoot off first at the Roval. He brought it home 34th last year, pretty sure he likes his outlook on today much better than the 2018 version. Has another year helped the young driver to mature more and handle the task ahead of him?

–Alex Bowman will line up alongside his Hendrick Motorsports teammate (others are Jimmie Johnson in 4th and Chase Elliott back a bit in 19th). Unlike Byron, Bowman had a great finish last year bagging a 4th place.

–Kyle Larson finished this race 25th last year, but he limped around on the final lap and made a few crucial passes that allowed him to advance to the next round. He also led 47 laps in that contest, something he might very well do again today. The #42 will start 7th.

–Ryan Blaney was the victor when the smoked cleared last year, going from 3rd to 1st in the blink of an eye when Jimmie Johnson tangled with Martin Truex Jr. just feet from the finish line. Blaney will pilot the #12 from 9th.

–Joey Logano starts 3rd today, and finished 10th in this race last year. He seems like a pretty good competitor for this year’s crown, so expect him to be up on the wheel today.
