2019 NASCAR Preview: Week 3 – Las Vegas

“NASCAR Goes West,” and we’re starting in Sin City!

Kyle Larson dominated at Atlanta leading 142 laps, but it was ultimately a flu-ridden Brad Keselowski to take the checkers.  Saluting the crowd with the stars and stripes was the perfect finish for the Folds of Honor sponsored race.

NASCAR now Goes West, part of their three race swing to the Left Coast.  This is the first of those races, the Diamond in the Desert.

Here’s what to look for:

Kevin Harvick won this race last Spring, and he’ll start from Pole today.  That victory is sandwiched in between two undesirables though, a 39th in the Fall, and a 38th in 2017.  29th in Final Practice, we’ll see which car shows up today for him.
Vegas Odds: 4-1

Denny Hamlin will start Outside Pole alongside the #4.  A 15.2 average for him, and not much to write home about lately.  5th and 6th in ’15 and ’17, but nothing better than 17th since then.
Vegas Odds: 20-1

Brad Keselowski won the Fall race here, and he’s riding a streak of seven straight Top 7 finishes at Las Vegas.  He’ll start 19th, but was 5th in Final Practice.  Coming off of last week’s win, he’s got momentum.
Vegas Odds: 5-1

Kyle Larson was highlighted here last year, and he’s got a pretty swell streak of his own.  Three straight Top 3 finishes, pretty darn good in horse racing and not bad in NASCAR either.  He’ll launch from the Top 10 in a quest to keep that trend alive.
Vegas Odds: 5-1

Ryan Blaney leads all drivers over the past ten races here with an 8.4 average.  A 19th in 2015, but since then he’s turned in a 6-7-5-5.  That’s a great hook to hang your hat on, and the #12 pilot hopes to add to that in a positive manner today.
Vegas Odds: 10-1
