Welcome to this week’s breakdown of the Vision High School Sports Beat, your behind the scenes look at the production, from the producer and the shows many contributors. It’s week 10 of the Sports Beat season, and our final regular Fall Season episode.
We begin with the Spencerport Girls Soccer team. We joined them for practice just ahead of their Far West Regional matchup with Amherst. The weather at practice was less than ideal. A very steady rain, although that didn’t really dampen the Rangers spirit. Paul Gotham was there for practice, and Dave Yates was in Webster for the Rangers 3 – 0 win over Amherst.
We now present to you the Director’s Cut of the story…
Paul Gotham is back with Dave Yates for the Dunkin Donuts Notebook. One of the main topics to discuss was the exceptional game had by Batavia’s Ray Leach. Little did we know that he would top that performance, and then some, the next week.
Our Section V Spotlight, brought to you by McArdle’s in Fairport, looks at some of the teams and athletes winning Section V titles this season. Among them, the incredible run of the Pittsford Panthers swim team and Coach Marty Keating. Will have more on them later in this article, in the flashback section.
We are proud to partner with Varsity Media to bring you a selection of the Top Football Plays in Section V each week… and this week, we bring you the Best of the Year. Not easy choices to make, as there have been some incredible plays this year.
Our main story takes us to Hilton, where the boys soccer team just won the Section V Class A Title. The Cadets came up just short last year, losing a close one to eventual State Champion McQuaid. Here now, is the director’s cut…
And that’s a wrap on week 10! Be sure to check out the full episode– and tune in Every Saturday night on 13 WHAM after the late news, and on Sundays at Noon.

We leave you this week, with an Insider weekly feature – looking back at some of our stories from the past 7 years. From September 21, 2013 – a look at the Pittsford Swim team and Coach Marty Keating, then at the time looking for their 12th straight Section V title, and led by a powerhouse lineup including Lindsay Stone and Katie Smith – both currently swimming at Notre Dame University. The Pride of Pittsford, our flashback feature of the week.
