Go Inside the Press Box with JC DeLass, Mike Catalana and Pat Duffy – and is it time to end “The process”?

The Press Box, presented by the Genesee Brew House, airing October 27/28, 2018.  Hosted by Bill Pucko, with guests Mike Catalana (13 WHAM SportsPat Duffy (WCMF Breakroom) and JC DeLass from WYSL Radio.

JC is back with us, having last visited in July, where he shared his thoughts on Josh Hader – who at the time was an All-Star with a twitter problem.  Now, after dominating the Dodgers in the NLCS, his stock has never been higher (as long as he stays off Twitter).

JC is in a great position to speak about our opening topic – the College Sports scene in Rochester.  JC has been the long-time voice of College sports on WYSL, and also served as host of the Coaches Corner segment on the College Sports Beat.

Our next segment is about the Buffalo Bills… for regular viewers of the show, you know that “The Process” has been a term tossed around with regularity, much to Pat’s dislike.  Pat was anti-Process from the beginning, and Mike was often in a position of trying to defend the decisions of “McBeane”… but not anymore.  With Pat and Mike actually agreeing about something, do we need any further proof about “the Process”?

The NFL picks made by our panelists are going about as well as the Bills season…

Like it or Not this week is all about the NFL Trade Deadline.  We had a 2nd topic for discussion, but time was running short, so it was cut.  That would have been a general discussion about the World Series matchup, and no doubt, a chance for Pat and Mike to take shots at Pucko’s beloved Red Sox.  Perhaps next week…

Pat kicks off Unfinished Business with a look at Chad Kelly.  Uncle Jim is a Buffalo legend, and NFL Hall of Famer… Chad has been kicked out or off every team he’s played for, just about.

But if there’s one thing Pat likes it’s a good comeback story… although his motivation for seeing Chad Kelly in a Bills uniform may have more to do with getting a chance at buying another jersey with “Kelly” on the back.  But he also likes a comeback.  I’m 40% positive that’s it.

JC DeLass is next, and as we’ve mentioned here before, JC is great at bringing up topics that we normally don’t get to cover.  There’s great stories in all corners of the sports world, and sometimes you can’t cover them all in a 30 minute show.  This is also, I believe, the first direct WWE talk in Press Box history.  There’s been some roundabout Vince McMahon talk with regards to the XFL, but here is JC speaking directly about WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, and his departure from the company to face his biggest battle, versus the return of his leukemia.

Mike Catalana’s first Bills game he covered was also the first game for Thurman Thomas, thirty years ago in 1988.  Now, 3 decades later, later tonight – the Buffalo Bills will retire #34 in a ceremony at the Bills-Patriots game.  Mike shares a story or two about Thurman, and those glory days in Buffalo.

That’s the show for this week.  Thanks to JC for joining us, and be sure to listen in to his broadcasts of upcoming UR, Roberts Weslyan and SUNY Geneseo basketball on WYSL.
