2025 NASCAR Preview: Week 19 – Chicago Street Course

Takin’ it to the Streets!

NASCAR is running a bracket system through the middle of the season to build a little excitement, and for those playing at home your bracket has no doubt been busted! Nevertheless, they’re onto Round 2 today, the Chicago Street Race.

Here’s what to look for:

Shane Van Gisbergen won here in his first career Cup race, and he’ll start from Pole today. While he may be the best equipped driver for a street race on the Cup circuit (and proved his worth again by winning from Pole yesterday in the Xfinity race, too!), but he actually finished 40th last season. Hmm!

Alex Bowman was our winner here last year, someone who has shown some road course prowess at other tracks in the past. He qualified 11th, but will start from the back of the field today after unapproved adjustments.

Michael McDowell will start Outside Pole alongside SVG, and this track has been kind to him. In two attempts, he’s finished 5th and 7th.

Ty Gibbs has actually earned more points here than any other driver. He’s finished 3rd and 9th in his attempts, and will start 9th today.

-While Katherine Legge may not be someone who is going to the podium (or is she?), but she made history as the first woman to qualify for this race. She wasn’t a shoo in, and outpaced Corey Heim to make the field.

Coverage of the race today starts on TNT at 2:00pm, green flag scheduled for 2:25pm.
