2025 NASCAR Preview: Week 17 – Pocono

We’ve got our triangle on deck…but we’ve got to wait a little bit longer…

NASCAR was in Mexico City last week, a new course to the circuit and won by road course maven Shane Van Gisbergen. Today we’re off to the Tricky Triangle, a track which is anything from ordinary.

Here’s what to look for:

Denny Hamlin took the week off and shoots right back in here to take the Pole. Did the rest lead to his speed on Saturday? We can’t say for sure, but it didn’t seem to hurt. Denny has plenty of experience here, too, including sweeping both Pocono races in 2006: his rookie season! He’s got three Wins in the last ten races there, and another one which he failed post-race inspection on.

Ryan Blaney was our winner here last year (Hamlin was 2nd!), a race that happened in July. This is our first June race since 2021. He’s starting 20th today.

Kyle Busch has three Wins here over the last ten races, too, though his last couple years haven’t been as explosive as they once were. He’s still been inching up and looking to be a threat sometimes but things just seem to fall apart. He exited the race early last week, so he’s the second-most rested driver in the field…right?

William Byron has the second-best average finish here over the last ten races (you know who has the best average), and he’s looking to get back to his winning ways. He’ll start shotgun on the field though after crashing on his hot lap.

-We usually talk about the last ten races here, but if you look at the last five races your man in Tyler Reddick. He’s got four Top 10s, and his worst finish is 11th. He’s averaging 6.0, and is starting 8th today.

We’ve had some track drying going on, NASCAR is hoping to get going around 4:30pm on Amazon Prime!
