We’re already five races into the season, and now the boys have returned to the East Coast and Down South. They’re in Miami, and some of them have already had a LOT of success this weekend in the Truck and Xfinity Races…
Here’s what to look for:
–Alex Bowman was fastest on Saturday, and he’ll start 1st on today. “That’s great, ROB, but how is he going to RACE?” And that’s a valid question; Bowman averages 16.6 over eight attempts here, and actually had his best finish last year (7th). He can’t put two really good races back-to-back though, in this limited pool of results, so we’ll have to see. Actually, if you’re into patterns he should be due for something in the high teens. I’ll guess…15th? Maybe you don’t want to watch him, buyer beware!
–Tyler Reddick was our winner in this race last year, and he’s got four Top 5s in his five attempts here! That is pretty good no matter which way you cut it. Last year he started 1st, this year he’ll have to settle for 20th. (It should be noted he finished 4th from the 24th position in 2020.)
–Denny Hamlin has the most points earned of any driver here over the last ten races. He’s also got 7 Top 10s and a Win in 2020. Annnd…he’s got a new 18-race sponsor that he’s eager to show off! Last year he finished 4th from the 3rd position; Hamlin rolls off 23rd.
–Christopher Bell has been on fire this season with three Wins in the last five weeks, and he comes to a track where he’s got the best average finish among active drivers over the last ten races. 8.8 is that number, and something to look forward to if you feel like three Wins just isn’t enough!
-…and Kyle Larson has been on fire this WEEKEND with (almost) two Wins in two races. He had a colossal comeback in the Truck race to Win it, and led a ton of laps in the Xfinity race before a late caution messed things up for him a little bit. If either of those races are any indication of how Sunday will go, expect Larson to but up and at ’em, and riding the wall all_day_long.
Coverage of the race starts on FS1 at 3:00pm, green flag scheduled for 3:12pm.
