2024 NASCAR Preview: Week 13 – Darlington

Happy Mother’s Day from the Lady in Black!

It is Throwback Weekend in Darlington, the Boys of Summer ready to mix it up in late Spring. Can anyone top the Track Too Tough To Tame this weekend?

Here’s what to look for:

Tyler Reddick was quickest Saturday morning and will launch from Pole position. He’s yet to hoist the trophy here, but over the last four races he’s finished 3rd or better. A 22nd at this very race in ’23 is his low point in that range.

William Byron won last year’s Goodyear 400. Willy B doesn’t have a signature track, but like his Hendrick teammates he has the ability to bring it home each and every week. Over the last three races here, he’s finished 8th or better.

Kyle Larson is our last victor here, taking the checkers in the Fall. He’s fresh off a record-breaking “Closest Finish In NASCAR History” Win at Kansas. Larson seems to be a contender every single week, and could definitely be in it again this one. In the last seven races, he’s finished 2nd or better four times.

Denny Hamlin has the most points here of any active driver over the last ten races. He was the last driver to go out in Qualifying but could not hit the front row. Hamlin is probably fine with that, however; he’s got two Wins and five Top 5s in the last five years.

Carson Hocevar made his first career start here last year, and he was having an incredible day considering. He’s already shown so much promise this season yielding finishes that are typically not commensurate with a rookie driver’s ability. Keep your mind open to the possibility to a fantastic Hocevar finish.

Coverage of the Darlington race starts on FS1 at 3:00pm, green flag scheduled for 3:12pm.
